Help Wanted: Toy and Bird Cage Rehabilitator

HCWG Posted on Nov 21st 2015 by JBiggs WebmasterMay 23rd 2016

A non member is looking for someone with toy and small turned part woodworking experience to rehabilitate several wooden toys and an all wood bird cage.

The rehabilitator will be reimbursed for their trouble.  The articles can be delivered to Bain Center, or location in Columbia near Bain Center.

The wooden fire truck and a ship toys need to be sanded and cleaned. The wood is all in good shape, nothing has rotted.

There are two bird cages, but only the darker one is to be rebuilt.  Maybe using parts from the lighter one, or making new parts.

Mentor Wanted: Child Rocking Chair Rebuild

HCWG Posted on Oct 14th 2015 by GTorrey WebmasterDec 5th 2015

Ginni Rocking ChairAttached is a picture of the rocking chair I called you about. The story goes something like:

When Ginni was very young, an uncle made her a child’s rocking chair. It has been in the family every since. Naturally, since it is a small piece, on one arm the vertical piece was broken and thrown away and the other arm rest came off.
I am looking for a wood worker who can take these pieces as shown in the picture and rebuild the chair for our great-grandson who is due in November. This would involve creating the vertical piece to replace the broken one. Probably take the back off and reset/reglue it to the seat as it appears to be loose. The chair probably does not need to be repainted, just the new piece.
Thanks for your help,

Help Wanted: Make Picture Frames From Heritage Wood

HCWG Posted on Sep 29th 2015 by JBiggs WebmasterMay 23rd 2016

I am looking for a craftsman to build a few (5) frames for me. I salvaged wood from my wife’s grandmother’s home and would like to use that to make frames for my mother-in-law and sisters who grew up in the home (size – 11″ x 14″).

Would you be able to point me in the right direction? Any help would be much appreciated.
