December 2nd, the FIRST Saturday our monthly meeting will be in person at Bain Center (info link) and virtual using Zoom technology.
The presentation is, “Fixing Common Woodworking Mistakes – Gary Rogowski“.
NOTE: Today’s presentation will be virtual with Gary connecting from his locale on the West coast via Zoom. Meeting attendees in person will observe Gary on the room’s big screen. Remote participants will observe via their Zoom session. Gary plans to show two videos and offer a Q&A session.
Our Presentation Committee has arranged for professional woodworker and instructor Gary Rogowski, The Northwest Woodworking Studio, Lyle Washington, to present. Gary will be demonstrating through video ways to fix a variety of common woodworking problems and mistakes followed by a question and answer session. The problems he will address are solid wood and plywood tear out, dents and dings and removing iron oxide stains, fixing sloppy dovetails, loosely fitting tenons and wobbly stool legs on a stool, chair or table. The presentation will last about 90 minutes.
As a teacher and builder of fine furniture in Portland since 1974, he has a wealth of information and knowledge to share with others.
The Online Mastery Study Program
Join the Online Mastery Study Program and learn the traditions and the skills of design and fine furniture making. The Mastery Program has been a part of The Northwest Woodworking Studio for over 20 years. We now offer this two-year part-time program as an Online course. You will learn how to produce great pieces that could sit in any gallery or any room in your home. The weekly classes offer real time lectures, videos of special topics as well as ample time for Q&A and one on one talks with the instructor and past Mastery students.

Setting Up Shop Video Series
The Northwest Woodworking Studio is offering a five-part video series called Setting Up Shop. Each lecture tackles a topic necessary for a smooth-running shop and then a demonstration of a project build for each class. For more information, please go to https://northwestwoodworking.com.

- Guild Bylaws, last revised in June 2012, have been updated by the Board of Directors. Members are invited to review and comment. Please visit the Bylaws Suggested Edits 2023. The Board recommends a 30 day comment period and a ratification vote at the January 13th Monthly Meeting. Members must vote in-person. A two thirds majority of eligible members present voting for the changes are required for ratification.
