Wood Donation or Commission: Salvage Family’s Old Piano Wood
I’m reaching out because I am searching for a craftsman that is able to make custom furniture in the Howard County area. I have an old family piano that is in good condition, but sadly the market for used pianos is non-existent. It has been in the family 70 years and I would hate to just throw it in the dump. Instead, I am interested in repurposing the various components of the piano. I have already removed the internal components, including the keys, strings, foot pedals, and extremely heavy iron harp. What I’m searching for is someone capable of converting the wooden exterior into a desk or other piece of furniture.
I would prefer to donate the wood. But if nobody is interested, I would be willing to commission someone to make it into something for me. I just don’t want to see it in the dump. And if anyone would like to come take a look at it first, just let me know. I am in Ellicott City.
