Help Wanted: Coach Teen Student Make Lacrosse Stick Due April 15th
My son is involved in a project for school for which he must make wooden lacrosse shaft (only, basket will attach thereto). It is octagon in shape.
The project is due April 16. We have the materials and my son is 15 years old.
I was hoping someone in the Guild might be interested in helping us out.
We would compensate for someone’s time or make a contribution to the guild.

recap: The lax project went very well on Sunday. When Russ and Jack arrived I was all set for the build including having borrowed a draw knife from Gene Torrey’s shop.
The lax Project was actually far more interesting than expected, and involved some great innovation. Jack was on a mission not for lacrosse, but rather to prototype an invention for a class project. His invention is a combination offender/defender stick that separates to serve both functions. Our fabrication made great use of the freebie table from the last meeting, including the engineers caliper/ruler and hand plane as well as the band saw bought from Manny at a previous meeting. Jack got his hands dirty, doing most of the work himself. We built two different prototypes and sent home two happy customers.
I fit Gene’s draw knife with a kydex sheath and returned it yesterday… Thank you Gene.
Payment was made in the form of a case of Sam Adams beer and a pair of oak stick-blanks. The beer may appear at the upcoming club picnic. The oak is now processed into a lax stick and a duck-head walking cane.

PS An antique steam-bent lax stick that was donated to this project at the meeting. Jack was ecstatic.
Thank you Greg
I have made contact with Mr Antico to satisfy his needs….
