For Sale: Gene’s Collection of Turning, Slab, and Board Pieces
For several good reasons, Gene Torrey is parting with his collection of turning, slab, and board wood of various species. Matt will be holding the sales for me. All wood must go.
The sale will be held at Matt’s over this coming weekend, 24 & 25 February from 10am to 1pm.
A follow-up sale may occur on Sunday, March 3rd, if there is enough material left over.
A second notice will be sent the week before.
Here are some examples:
- California Heart Redwood – 2×6, grade 1, was once assembled as an 11′ x 3′ table. Wood is stained with some screw holes. Excellent condition otherwise.
- Walnut, cherry, and oak boards. Some rough sawn, some sanded on four sides.
- Walnut slabs, various lengths, and widths, about 2″ thick.
- Silver Maple, one piece is already surfaced on two sides, with matching rough-cut slab suitable for a base. Size is for a coffee table type project. A half round ~40″ log suitable for matching bowl turning is also available.
- A bistro table size locust cookie cut from Belmont Manor. This is an interesting piece with heavy lobular perimeter.
- A camphor round, large – ~20″.
- Many, many bowl-blank cuts in various species, walnut, elm, maple, box elder, pagoda wood, mulberry. Some rounded, some square, some burl. All interesting from an “art project” result perspective. Some pieces were bagged to induce spalting.
Payment methods Matt will accept are:
- Cash & Check (preferred)
- Google Pay, PayPal, & Venmo
- Gene’s Apple Pay (ask Matt for the mobile number)
