First Bowl on the New Lathe
Last year Amy took me to Hawkins furniture in Rosenberg, Texas. He makes Texas style furniture. He gave me a few scraps of mesquite and I made some bottle stoppers and ice cream scoops for ari’s company.
Last weekend Karen and I drove out there for the day. He gave me some more wood and he asked me if I could turn a bowl for him from a rough crotch piece of walnut. He wanted a bowl inset inside the piece to highlight the crotch and keep it rustic.
Below is the bowl after one coat of watch oil. I hope to deliver the bowl in a few days after a few more coats of oil.
