2024 Election – Process, Timing, and Nominations
Your Board of Directors has decided to conduct a hybrid election comprised of both digital and in-person voting for the 2024 Executive Board of Directors open positions, President, and Secretary. All active members will have an opportunity to vote using your preferred method.
Members will receive an email with the digital ballot hyperlink on Wednesday morning, September 4th. The digital ballot will remain open for on-line voting until Saturday morning at 10:15am, September 7.
Paper ballots will be available at the September 7 monthly meeting for members who prefer to vote in that manner. The election results will be tabulated during the meeting and results announced at the end of the meeting.
Nominations remain open for the positions of President and Secretary.
All active members are eligible to serve in either position.
We need YOU. Please VOLUNTEER
David Knipfer has been nominated for the President position by Gene Torrey.
Gene’s Nominating Statement:
David shows decades of large group leadership experience at JH Applied Physics Lab in his role today as Guild President. His Guild commitment is obviously strong given his willingness to assume the president’s role when his predecessor suddenly announced his resignation. David, then newly elected as Vice President, volunteered to ascend to president. He is a decisive, confident, leader with a clear vision of the path forward, and a skilled communicator. |
David’s Statement:
I have been a member of the guild since the early 2000’s and have long admired the dedicated work of the volunteer leaders and committee chairs. I’m seeking the role of President to contribute to that long tradition of guild support. I’m confident I can contribute to board decisions with enthusiasm and practical life experience while acting at all times in the best interests of the guild membership.
In my woodworking life, I’ve somehow managed to find some design creativity despite the formal education of two different engineering degrees. My box designs are generally well received, and I truly enjoy the challenge of executing by hand precision work on a smaller scale which I sell at the HorseSpirit Arts Gallery.

We look forward to your upcoming vote in support of the governance of your guild.
