Wood Chips – 4 Nov 2014
This edition of Wood Chips news carries with it important updates about Guild member events starting this weekend! Be sure to take note.
Each of the items below contains a link back to a posted article all about that item on the web site.
Marketplace
Under the category of things for sale, here’s a short list:
- Wood and Tools For Sale on Saturday 8 Nov, rain or shine, David Mccann is opening up his yard, or basement if it rains, and selling some good stuff.
- Delta Lathe and Duplicator For Sale, by Fred Schock, Fred is selling his lathe and duplicator. Check out his ad for a link to pictures. While you’re at it, you might notice how nice his shop looks. Wish mine was that big!
Community Service
The Guild provides a measure of community service through several programs. Here are two with upcoming dates. Check them out…
- Toys For Tots – we are down to the wire now on completing Toys For Tots. Ron Clements will be collecting the fruits of your labor at the December meeting. It’s not too late to get one more fine woodcraft toy that a deserving child will surely cherish. Contact Ron Clements at 301-854-0067 if you have any questions.
- The Woodworking Shows in Baltimore – an annual opportunity for the Guild to promote woodworking in our community and also show how great a Guild we are. Joel LaFerrier is looking for a number of shift volunteers, projects and woodworking demonstrators to assist with this worthy program. Check out Guild’s “The Woodworking Shows in Baltimore” homepage for details or to volunteer.
Future Events
Do you want to pass along notice about an upcoming event? It is very easy. Just use the Contact Us form to give me a heads up and I will follow-up
Website
You may have noticed that we been using the website to communicate more and more. There are several reasons. Securing your contact information is one of them.
For example, when the membership list is sent by email, the message and the PDF file or MS Word document with every member’s personal information is sent through countless servers in the Internet in completely eye readable form. By contrast, our website method of delivering the same member list is setup to require a secure connection to your web browser, just like shopping and banking sites, and requires your login. This prevents our membership information from unauthorized access.
if you don’t have a web site account and want one, visit our Registration page. There are three forms to choose from. Choose the one for paid member needing a web site account and fillin the blanks. We will process your application right away and you’ll get an email with account name and password shortly after.
