Project: Turner’s Sharpening Stand w/Tim Jackson
Last week I fulfilled a long standing commitment to go over to Tim Jackson’s house in Brooklyn to build (finally) my copy of Tim’s “Turner’s Sharpening Stand”.
I am proud to say that it was a one night job and expertly completed with Tim’s watchful eye and experience building the stand. He pre-planned everything, even making a template-jig for the critical sizing and placement of the grinder stand and tool holder brackets.
Tim had pre-purchased several important supplies so that all I needed to do was go to Wurth Wood Group to obtain a 5’x5’x3/4″ natural finish imported Baltic Birch plywood panel. The panel was $77.00 including tax. And, too wide to fit in my truck with the bed cap on. fortunately I was also taking two 10″x3/4″x13′ boards which provided a surface on which to perch the panel. I looked like an exotic race car going down BW parkway with a five foot long airfoil sticking out of the back of my truck atop the tailgate!
