Ouch: Current Photo Album Software is Not Working Out…
I have decided to cut the cord with the current photo album software provider. This will mean that I have to rebuild the photo album experience from the beginning of when I started collecting photos or our activities, circa 2013/2014.
In background, I have to surgically remove all reference to the software’s data artifacts installed in the backend database. Besides there being a great deal of detailed technical work, there is a risk too of some loss of images, which constitute a photographic record of our history.
This comes at a pivotal time in the evolution of the Guild’s historical record. The surviving members present since the inception of our Guild in 1992 are shrinking in number. Having a photographic record is certainly a valuable resource to which we can turn to reconstruct memory and detail.
I will do all in my power to retain the record in its current model. That model does impart a notion of chronology so that we can definitively say “this event occurred with these people doing these things at a specific point in time”.
Meanwhile, please continue to take pictures and when the new album engine is installed and ready for your access, I will announce and we can collect your photos as enabled by the replacement.
Thank you for your patience during this time of change.
Gene, thank you for all the work that you do for the guild.
