Free Wood: Cherry Log Turning Sections
If anyone is interested in trying their had at green woodworking, I cut extra today.
Cherry is one of the best woods. These pieces are 8-12″ diameter and about 26″ long. I painted the ends to slow the drying process and reduce checking. They are currently in a shady spot near a stream at my house.
If you are unable to work them now, it would be best to split them into billets ASAP and freeze them in a plastic bag to reduce checking.
If anyone is unfamiliar with working green woodworking I can give them some pointers. They could be used to do spoon or bowl carvings.
