Help Wanted: School Project – Safely Cut Baseballs In Half
Hi
I am an elementary school teacher and am starting a very ambitious art project. I am making the American flag out of baseballs. I am trying to find someone that might be able to help me cut the baseballs in half so,I can then paint and mount them.
Right now it looks like I need to cut 50-60 balls. After they are cut I have to paint them. I wasn’t sure how they would look after they were cut, so not sure how to secure the thread and ball cover. I have seen pictures of one cut and the inside seemed to remain intact. The project doesn’t have a time frame, just trying to find some help, with this part of the project.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much
Karen
Editors Note: I corresponded by email with Karen. She can bring the balls to Bain Center during normal shop hours. What she needs a woodworker for is to safely cut the balls, either on the band saw, or table saw, probably with a custom made jig to hold the ball safely.
