Bill Skinner Construction of Skin on Frame Solo Canoe
Who doesn't love a hand built wooden canoe. Be sure to check out Bob's photo gallery at the bottom of the page to see what you missed!
This session is an overview documenting the construction of a 13 foot Skin On Frame canoe that finished up at 25 pounds so it is easily carried by one person. The boat can be paddled or sailed down wind. The frame is built using clear yellow pine, steam bent white oak ribs and lashed together using waxed polyester cord. The skin is shrunk to the frame and sealed with two part polyurethane.
The course on canoe construction was purchased from https://www.capefalconkayaks.com/ that offer courses for the construction of both canoes and kayaks.
