Project: My first carved spoon! Post Demo

During the December 2017 Monthly Meeting where Don Nalezyty demonstrated hand carving (with an ax!) his favored wooden spoons, I was enthused and inspired to try my hand at the process.
Despite my novice experience as a woodworker, I am pretty inventive and can handle an ax.
Thusly armed and with ample enthusiasm I launched into converting recently felled cherry to the spoon of my dreams, and maybe my wife’s! I think you’ll agree by the looks of the chronology of photos shown below.
You should give it a try.

Ah finally a HCWG member, and can post back. Thanks for all the comments and support. I have seen a marked change in my spoon making this month – the most significant change being moving the spoon crank from the shoulder of the spoon to mid-bowl. This creates a much more refined and artistic looking spoon and retains 90% of the contained volume. I must admit that I was a skeptic about the fun of spoon making at first but have found this practice extremely addictive. Am not in process of trading spoons with my sister-in-law who thows clay bowls… with a side goal of a completely home made table setting and table…
