Howard County Woodworkers Guild (HCWG)
The Guild is a collegial organization of like-minded and creative individuals, dedicated to sharing in the art of fine woodworking craft, nurturing newcomers, and giving back to our community.
Whether your interest is in turning, fine woodworking, carving, finishing, lumber, trees, or camaraderie, all of the above, or you’re not sure; our Guild is for you. Come to a meeting or two and get acquainted.
Our Guild does not buy or make anything for retail sale. We do not buy and sell used woodworking related items. We do provide a marketplace where buyers and sellers, or those seeking help, may post an ad for that purpose.
We offer with limited capacity educational opportunities provided by dedicated and skilled senior craftsmen and women (SME program & Classes). Our monthly meeting is highlighted by impressive show-n-tell reviews of finished projects, and a 60-90 minute skill presentation (Monthly Presentations Schedule).
2020-06-04: President and Vice President Election – Nomination Committee Chair Needed Now
Bi-Annual Election of the President and Vice President will occur this coming September. Prerequisite activities start July 1.
Both Rick Munzer, President, and Joel LaFerriere, Vice President, have declined to run again.
In accordance with our by-laws, a nomination committee is needed to conduct the nomination and election process. A Nomination Committee Chairperson is needed now.
The President will appoint the Chairperson from among the volunteers. If none volunteer, the President will draft an appointee.
Below is the nomination committee section from our by-laws about the process.

This year the process will have to proceed using virtual technology (web posts and emails, balloting, and virtual meetings). Gene Torrey will assist the nomination committee in that regard.
Article 9 – Elections
Section 1. Nominations
A nominating committee consisting of a chairperson and two members shall be appointed by the President and announced at or before the July meeting. Their duty is to nominate the officers for the next administration. The nominating committee acts independent of the Executive Board to nominate officers and assist in finding volunteers for the committees and subcommittees of the Guild.
A report from the nominating committee shall be made at the August meeting.
Voting will occur at the September meeting unless the Executive Board announces a new date, with justification. In the case of a delayed vote, standing Executive Board members will continue in office until new officers are elected.
Nominations from the floor will be in order at the September meeting, or at the meeting in which the election is held if changed as noted above.
