Folks, Confirming the George Slack Wood & Tool sale in Warrenton is on for Nov 23, 2024 this coming Saturday 9:00a-2:00p.  This is an outdoor event; weather is looking very good!

This is the last currently planned public sale.  Still lots of boards available (over 500 boards; over 11,000 BF for sale),  plus tools and books in basement.  We have a crew of 14 people ready to help (10 mostly woodworkers plus a 4 person labor crew).  People are available for moving boards, pulling boards from the seagoing storage containers, and help loading boards onto your vehicle.  We have an electric chain saw if you need to cut boards for transport.   All sales final, as-is, and Owner requests cash.  If you see a board you want, but can’t transport right away, can put your name on it and make a deposit, for future pickup.

Wood Inventory – Inventory is best estimate.  Boards were inventoried over last week.  Sizes are approximate.  Lengths while in shipping storage container are hard to measure.  Figure cannot be determined.  Number of boards best estimates.  So final size and price will be determined at site when boards pulled.

To figure wood board price – look at wood species, board thickness and width in wood inventory table to get number of BF.  Then get $/BF sale price in price table under red sales columns.  Multiply #BF x $/BF.  Sorry, have good Excel skills, but could not easily develop lookup formulas with all the criteria.

Final Measurement of Boards – On day of sale we will pull boards of interest, confirm wood species, determine if figured, measure T, W, L, make reasonable adjustment for splits/defects, adjust for “usable length”, and then price board. 

Tally Sheet – We have a tally sheet to take measurements and your contact info. If you need an invoice, can send PDF after sale date.

Address –  7377 Brookmoor Dr, Warrenton, VA 20187.  See attached PDF on directions.  GPS stops at driveway entrance.  PDF provides info for parking.  Look for sign “George” at driveway entrance.  After parking, please check-in at the large 2 roll-top door garage for orientation of the site – multiple locations to see all the stuff.

Parking – Please do not block the one lane driveway or parking area in front of garage (staging/loading area).  Per directions sheet and signs, drive past large two roll-top door garage, and park in the large field to left. Plenty of room for trucks, trailers.

Visiting Site – Please respect the privacy of the Owners.  Only come during sale hours; do not enter house except going to the basement woodshop for sales.

Free Stuff – Lots of items in basement “Free Room” for the taking plus magazines.  At large garage, we have many boxes and containers with mahogany cutoffs – free with wood purchases.  Also have a good bit of Honduran Rosewood seconds in the canopy by large garage with long cutoffs from milling.  Great for veneering, laminating, pen blanks.

Sales Basis – All sales “As-Is”, and final, no returns.  Owner has requested cash payments.  Issues with Zelle, Venmo and site cell phone connectivity

Safety – We do not want anyone getting hurt.  Do not move boards on stacks by yourself.  Stacks of boards can be unstable.  Ask for help.

Watch for tripping hazards.  There are a number of sleeper boards on garage floor.
Watch your feet – dropping boards can cause injury.
Large wide boards are strong, but treat them gently.  Dropping these boards can cause splits, especially wide 5/4s boards.

House Furniture Tour – If you have time and Paula is available, recommend you take a house furniture tour – a number of 18^th century reproduction pieces, at museum quality.
