2020-03-07 March Monthly Meeting on the 7th @ HoCo Elkridge Library, Elkridge

The March 2020 monthly meeting is the FIRST Saturday on the 7^th.

The demonstration is by Fred Schock with Brad Myers: “Sam Maloof and Hal Taylor Rocking” Chairs.

We will focus on:

• Maloof & Taylor overview

• Similarities / Differences in concept and approach

• Mentor / Mentee Chair Build

• Chair parts samples
• Maloof and Taylor style rocking chairs will be on display (if weather permits)

• Members are invited to preview pdf file of slides related to the presentation

I was struck by the artistry of Maloof’s and Taylor’s chair design, made even more palpable by Fred’s clearly intimate knowledge of the finer points of the technical challenge in successfully making one of these chairs.  We should all be impressed by Fred’s efforts to learn this craft and blessed that he works to pass along his skill.  Please be sure to view his PDF  in the link in the above sentence.
