September Demonstration

The September 11 presentation on “How to Install Cabinets” will be by Ray Rosenbloom. The discussion will focus on the installation of kitchen cabinets. While most of us have probably built cabinets of one type or another in our shops, there are many conditions encountered on the job site which one learns to deal with only through practical experience. Ray’s talk will try to prepare you to deal with some of those conditions.

Ray Rosenbloom is the owner of Patuxent Valley Craftsmen, Inc., a full
service remodeling company located in Fulton, MD. He has worked in the
construction industry since 1986, building new homes as well as performing all types of interior and exterior renovations. His interest in woodworking goes back to the late 60’s, when he began making furniture for personal use. Prior to working in construction, Ray had careers in the computer and real estate industries.

Bain Shop Rules: The shop is now open Mon. through Fri. from 9AM-noon for the use of HCWG members only. SNOW CLOSINGS, The policy is that if Howard County Schools are closed, the center and shop will be closed. If the schools are opening late, so will be center and shop! This restriction of HCWG Members only is due to insurance regulations. Additional individuals to serve as backup shop monitors are needed to cover days when the normal monitor is unable to be there due to vacation, etc. Only those on the shop monitor list maintained by the Bain Center will be allowed to open the shop. The shop monitor will wear a “Monitor Badge” while in the shop. He is the boss in the shop while he is on duty! Power equipment will not be operated when only one person is in the shop! If you don’t follow the rules you will be asked to leave. The new dust collection arrangement and ambient air filters are making the shop an almost dust free environment. Our lungs say: “Thank you”

Though we are always on the lookout for suggestions and volunteers, we do have demonstrators lined up for some of the future meetings:
