Sharpening Workshop
Sharp tools are required for accuracy, safety, and craftsmanship. Dull edges tear fibers, fight the grain, and force you to work harder than you should. Sharp edges glide, slice, and leave surfaces that require little to no sanding. If you want cleaner joinery, smoother surfaces, and more control at the bench, sharpening is the skill that unlocks everything else.
In this workshop, you will learn the principles of sharpening and get hands on practice using your own sharpening kit, chisels, hand planes, and card scraper. To participate in this workshop, students must have a complete sharpening kit, a set of bench chisels, 3 hand planes, and a card scraper. A detailed list of suggested items will be provided.
This workshop is a prerequisite for the Hand Plane Tuning & Use Workshop, the Mortise & Tenon Workshop and the Cherry Shaker Side Table Course.
