Free: Walnut For Turning
Last fall I went with Rick Benze and picked up Walnut logs from Belmont from Howard County Parks to be used by HCWG. Since, I have offered it numerous times to Guid Members for a nominal donation of $5 to the Guild. A few people early on acquired some but there seems to be very little interest unless I gave it away for free. I am willing to cut it into what ever size people want with a chainsaw. Not sure how much more accommodating we can be.
It has been 9 months since the logs were cut. As originally intended, I would like to see Guild members take advantage of the opportunity before it checks up and is not useful to anybody. In offering it up to some other turners in the club, they suggested I offer it to Frederick Area Turners, who expressed interest. Neighbors have offered to cut it up for firewood.
We can announce it at the August meeting and Gene could send out a message to members to see if there is any interest. It doesn’t need to be gone tomorrow, but I would like to see it used. If not, please advise how to proceed.
Logs range approximately 6 – 12 inches in diameter not including the bark.
