Hello Al –
On behalf of the HCWG Executive Board of Directors, it is with great pleasure that I inform you of your appointment to the role of Business Manager and a valued member of our board.
The initial focus of your Business Manager role will generally be on financial support, as summarized below by VP Paul Mermelstein:
FINANCIAL SUPPORT:
Corporate records – Essentially, as described, this focuses on the Personal Property Report, which is a a once per year filing about our physical assets (e.g., shop equipment and tools) that takes less than one hour. This position could be listed as Resident Agent. The Place of Business should the Bain Ctr since that is where our physical assets reside, but mailing address would be our P.O. Box.
eCommerce Financial Linkage – We need to define what Gene means by “owns” the eCommerce system or “owns” the 3rd party card payment. But with clarification, eCommerce management tasks could be handled by this business manager, interfacing with the Treasurer and Webmaster for troubleshooting financial management or technical issues respectively. The eCommerce system should handle routine payments, posting to our account, and generation of management reports so that ongoing manual intervention is not required.
It was a pleasure to speak with you yesterday, and we all left that discussion really impressed by your problem solving approach and significant non-profit financial support background. I reiterate that you should consider the duties listed above as the baseline for the role – we really look forward to your involvement and bringing fresh ideas to help us improve the guild.
I want you to know that Sam Callahan has been appointed Business Manager with a focus on records and communication.
I’ll follow-up with a message to you on details of the monthly board meeting, contacts, etc.
I’m personally thrilled to have you on the board and am truly looking forward to your support and contributions.
Welcome!
Take care. David
