Specialized Workshop Help Needed
There are several specific tasks in the Guild Workshop at Bain Center that need special attention.
We need volunteers to work on one or more of these tasks. We will try to accommodate your schedule, but keep in mind that the Bain Center is only open Monday to Friday 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
1. There is a new Midi lathe in the shop that needs to be set up for regular use. This involves stabilizing the cabinet with the possible addition of levelers or ballast, configuring the Grizzly dust collector, and testing out the lathe. I think it is important for an experienced lathe operator to look at this before we open it up for general use.
2. The fence on the SawStop table saw will not lock in place. This needs to be addressed before the saw can be used. In addition, it requires general maintenance (lubrication, cleaning cast iron surface) and adjustment, where necessary. This requires someone with a lot more SawStopexperience than I have.
3. Both of our bandsaws could use some expert attention (Powermatic and Jet). The Powermatic needs to have the lower wheel adjusted outward to align with the upper wheel. Both machines need to have guides aligned andsurfaces adjusted to correct angles in addition to routine maintenance. Someone familiar with adjusting these bandsaws is required.
There are more things that need to be done, but the above three tasks are the ones that I think need some extra focus. In general, every cast iron surface in the shop needs to be cleaned, and none of this equipment has been run in over a year. We are working hard to get the shop open soon. Thanks for your patience.

Good memo Ron. Should get several volunteers.
