Milled Lumber Sale: Oak and Mahogany Great BF Prices
I have become aware of a supply of wood available from the widow of a woodworker/tool collector near Hagerstown.
The pictures show two stacks of wood, well-stacked and very dry. One stack is oak, I think mostly or completely white oak, and the second is mahogany. Most of the wood is S2S or S3S. Most of the oak is ¾: and the mahogany includes probably 20-25% thicker pieces of 5/4 or 6/4. There are several wide pieces in each stack as shown in the pictures. I do not think there is any 8/4 in either stack.
I have roughly and conservatively estimated the quantity in each stack: at least 283 bf of oak, and 327 bf of mahogany. She is asking $1500 for all, so assuming $500 for the oak stack that comes to $1.76 or less per bf, and assuming $1000 for the mahogany that comes to $3.06 or less per bf. I think it is more than worth the price. All this said, you should use the pictures to judge for yourself. My understanding is that she prefers to sell as one lot.
I would love to have this but I cannot manage the purchase and storage right now. I am glad to help you contact the seller and maybe help you move it if needed. More pictures are available.
