HCWG Nominations for Vice President and Treasurer Needed
The Election Committee, consisting of Gene Torrey as Chair, appointed by Mike Haigwood, President, and Mike as assistant, announce nominations for Vice President and Treasurer are needed immediately in preparation for their election next month at the September meeting.
Any member can nominate themselves or another member. To do so or to ask questions, please use our form to let us know.
For the Guild to continue operation, to comply with Maryland business law, and Howard County requirements, we require a fully populated and functional board. The Board has begun to meet monthly when events require, and bi-monthly otherwise. Please consider donating some of your time for the good of all members and to co tiniest our 22 year legacy of fellowship in shared appreciation of woodworking, and service to our community.
The Vice President role is to serve as the backup to the President, to provide a voting seat on the Board of Directors, and where appropriate, assist in any guild matters directed by the President or the Board. The term is two years. Benefits include paid membership for two years.
The Treasurer role is to manage the financial affairs of the Guild, to account for income and expenditures, is the co-owner of the PNC Bank checking account, is a voting seat on the Board of Directors, to make deposits, to write checks, and to provide monthly and annual financial reports. The term is two years. Benefits include paid membership for two years.
For additional information about responsibilities, and context with the Board, please refer to our By Laws.
You may note that the two positions for which elections are being held is unusual. The current Board of Directors, noting the start up challenges they face with replacement of both the President and Vice President at the same time, decided to split the two positions into different election cycles. The Guild By Laws are proposed to be changed to reflect this decision. Going forward, the President and Secretary position will be in one cycle, the next is July-September 2022, and Vice President and Treasurer are this year, September 2021.
Nominations received so far:
