Hand planes can provide more control and better results over power tools alone. They can be a fast and effective way of achieving smooth surfaces without a lot of sanding, flatten boards and table tops, and fine tune joinery.

Participants will attend a two-night workshop that focuses on proper use and techniques, and includes hands-on practice with common bench planes.

We will cover what planes can do, tuning for best performance, adjusting for different uses and situations, proper body mechanics, controlling tear-out, and troubleshooting.

Bring in your own plane and learn how to diagnose and improve its performance.

Workshop will be held at the Guild shop on successive Thursday evenings from 4 to 7 PM, February 27 and March 6. The fee is $20 to cover practice material.
