Free Wood: Red Oak for Turners or Small Projects
A guild member’s friend had a very large red oak tree cut down last fall, and the sections are sitting on his property in Severna Park. Photos are below.
There are pieces about 6 inches in diameter that would be great for small turning projects, all the way up to large disks over 3 feet in diameter and about 16″ thick. He’s offering them free to anyone who wants to come get them. Bring several friends if you want one of the big boys.
Also, he’s looking for advice on how to cut thinner slices from one of the large diameter disks to possibly make a table top. Is a chain saw the best bet? Looking for suggestions.
