Free Wood: Large White Oak Logs – Cut to Take
I recently had a large white oak tree taken down.
I have 4 large sections (7’, 8’, 11’, 12’ x 24”-30”) remaining on my lawn and was wondering if your guild members are interested in wood that large. Hoping to find a way for this formerly beautiful tree to turn into something equally beautiful for the future.
Unless you have a crane truck and sturdy trailer, you’ll need to cut the wood onsite.

Hey Paul and Mike, great looking slabs! Definitely treat the ends with Anchorseal2 to prevent cracking.
You might also want to see Arnold (Timberline Farms Sawmill) to surface the slabs, and cut two bookmatch slabs on the long axis to make a 360° live edge tabl.
Paul and I worked on this yesterday and completed slabbing out one of the four logs.
Here is a less than 1 minute look at some of what happened.
I’m in the process of building up a chainsaw mill that will be capable of milling these logs, for me or others, but I don’t know when I’ll have it finished. Interestingly, I just picked up the chainsaw yesterday, after having ordered it last September. I would like to stay tuned to any other efforts and will try to expedite my efforts.
