Regarding, hard wax oils…

Hard wax oils have recently been pushed to the forefront by manufacturers and social media influencers. Lots of hype and glowing reviews with little or no structure.  I was looking for an unbiased review but until now could not find one that I trusted.  Enter Fine Woodworking.

The current issue of Fine Woodworking has a review article featuring hard wax oils.  The review evaluated all of the major ones and the Osmo product was picked as the best.  Please read the entire article for  information, criteria, and evaluation results.

I have purchased a .75 liter quantity of OSMO Poly-X finish for my own evaluation.  The .75 liter quantity is $62 and change.  It is expensive and the quantity is more than I need.

I am going to divide it into four equal quantities at 6.3 ounces each. I want to sell three of them at a cost of $16.35 each.   The finish will be placed in a pint size paint can.  Each can will cover 48 square feet or 24 sq. ft. at the recommended application of two coats.

Product contents:
Natural Oils:  sunflower oil, soya oil, thistle oil
Drying agents
Water repelling agents
Wax:  carnauba wax and candelilla wax, paraffin
Vehicle.  Odorless mineral spirits

Shelf life is estimated at 5 years in a cool dry place.
