Tom McLaughlin, an accomplished woodworker and YouTube woodworking entertainer, who previously presented in our virtual May 2022 monthly meeting will attend in person for a new 1-Day class, Creation of a Contemporary Bow Front Sofa End Table.

After a 30+ year career as a Master Craftsman, Tom McLaughlin shifted his focus to teaching in 2016. He provides online courses and in-shop classes at his shop in Canterbury, N.H.  His web site is epicwoodworking.com.

We have arranged for Tom McLaughlin to spend a day at the Bain Center on Friday May 5, 2023 which is the day before our May monthly Guild meeting.  Tom will present a variety of intermediate and advanced techniques related to building a Contemporary Bowfront Sofa End Table. 

If you’ve yet to experience Tom’s teaching style, you’re in for a treat as he clearly delivers concepts for those at various levels of expertise to understand, with professional skill and a disarming humor.

The day’s topics will cover the overall design considerations for the table, the joinery processes, shaping and veneering the sides, methods for making a Bowfront drawer, as well as veneering, edge-banding and inlay approaches for making the top, as time allows. Tom will also address options for finishing, followed by a time for Q & A at the end. This is an opportunity to improve your woodworking skills and get inspired to bring your woodworking to the next level.
